Family and Community Programs
Family and Community Programs are designed to be fun for families. These programs include weekly beginner friendly activities and monthly festivals thoughout the summer. All of our Family Programs introduce the outdoors in a easy and welcoming way.
Family Outdoor Festivals:
Our last FREE Family Outdoor Festival of the season is Saturday, August 28 at Allegheny Commons on the North Side from 12-4 PM.
This festival will feature free beginner-friendly activities for the whole family. Try scaling a climbing wall, using a GPS unit to find secret treasures, biking around the park, or even kayaking on shallow Lake Elizabeth.
Free food, and music will be offered throughout the event. You'll hear DJ Nick Nice and a special musical performance by Royal Tribe Music.
At each Family Outdoor Festival kids of all ages will receive an Outdoor Passport. Anyone who completes their passport by trying all the activities and collecting all the stamps will be entered to win a FREE Venture Outdoors Family Membership and outdoor gear!
The festivals run from 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM, and is sponsored by Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield.
